Welcome to the
Lambert Behavioral Neuroscience Laboratory!

Lab Mission and Values

The overall goal of the UR Lambert Behavioral Neuroscience Laboratory is to identify experiences and environmental contexts that optimize neural functions---a research area we refer to as experience-based neuroplasticity. Using rodent laboratory models and field studies of rats, primates, and raccoons, the complexity of the mammalian brain and its response to various contexts is investigated from several perspectives. Behavioral, neural, and endocrinological data are typically included in our behavioral neuroscience adventures. Throughout all research endeavors, it is of the utmost importance that the Lambert Lab provides meaningful research and learning experiences for undergraduate students ---in a safe, nurturing space--to prepare them for various careers in science/research, clinical medicine, public health, and beyond.

We recognize the importance of systematically derived, nonbiased scientific information and value the contributions of diverse scientists and research models in the production of this information. We also value collaborations with many scientists across the US (and world!) and acknowledge that their wisdom enhances the integrity of our work. It indeed takes a diverse and collaborative village to conduct relevant and meaningful behavioral neuroscience research!
